“Kegs For Legs” Fundraiser Hopes to Raise Money for Rescue Dog’s Prosthetic Legs
A special fundraising event is being held to benefit a Dalmatian dog named “Emma” who is being fostered in Charleston after her rescue from a slaughterhouse in China. All event proceeds will support the Dalmatian Rescue of South Florida in purchasing prosthetic limbs for the dog who is missing her front two feet.
Before her rescue from the meat trade in Beijing, Emma’s front two legs were removed, as well as the end of her tail and the tips of her ears. Emma is being fostered in Charleston through the non-profit organization, Dalmatian Rescue of South Florida where she will soon be looking for her future adoptive family.
The event, “Kegs For Legs,” will feature live music from Holy City Heaters and the Foxes Fried food truck will be on site. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase and a chance to win prizes from local pet supply stores as well as other offerings. Local pet-based vendors will have on-site booths featuring their products and will have items available for purchase.
“Kegs For Legs” will take place at The Barrel, a local pet-friendly bar with a wide variety of craft beers on tap. The Barrel is located at 1859 Folly Rd. The Barrel welcomes well-behaved dogs to attend the event and features an enclosed off-leash area for dogs to enjoy. The Barrel will donate a percentage of sales toward the purchase of Emma’s prosthetic legs.
The event will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2020 and will be held rain or shine. The festivities will take place from 3 pm until 7 pm. Live music will begin at 4 pm and Foxes Fried will be on site throughout the duration of the event.
For those who are unaware of the situation in China, many dogs who are lost or stolen find themselves in dangerous meat-trade. Many of these dogs suffer abuse and neglect before they meet their horrible fate. There are various rescue networks working throughout the world who risk their own lives to help save dogs from these deplorable conditions. Once rescued they will match them with sponsoring organizations who can transport them to regions where they have a higher likelihood of adoption. Emma will be on site at the event to meet and greet her supporters within the Charleston community.
