Brown’s Court Bakery to Suspend Retail Operations Until Further Notice

Published

on

The following is a press release from the Brown’s Court Bakery:

At Brown’s Court Bakery, we are committed to serving you the highest quality breads, pastries, and coffee in a clean, comfortable, and friendly environment. The health and well being of our customers and staff remain the highest priority.

Due to recent developments regarding COVID-19 (aka coronavirus), we are closing our doors for retail operations, effective Monday, March 15th, and wholesale operations, effective Thursday, March 19th. We cannot in good faith continue to provide our products at this time, with the possibility of contributing to the spread of this pandemic.

We call on our Governor Henry McMaster to close all restaurants and bars statewide, as our neighbors in New York, Washington, Ohio, and Massachusetts have enacted this weekend. The quicker we flatten the curve of this outbreak, the quicker we can resume normal operations for our wholesale and retail customers.

We hope that everyone in our community understands the true gravity of this outbreak and practices social distancing in this time of global crisis. It is simply irresponsible to continue as “business as usual” with the limited information we have at this time in regards to the number of cases and how severe and detrimental this virus will affect our city, our state, and our nation.

This decision does not come lightly, and the financial losses we will suffer pale in comparison to the health and safety of our staff and customers. We will provide paid time off for our staff during this time. We encourage others in our community to follow suit.

Thank you as always for your support of Brown’s Court Bakery.
