“To Go from The Joe” Adds Delivery, Expands Menu Items and Hours
Press Release
Even though the baseball season has yet to begin, the demand for delicious ballpark food, apparently, has not been delayed. Due to high demand and positive reviews, the RiverDogs will expand its “To Go from The Joe” food service in many aspects starting this week.
After a successful month-long run serving take-out lunches Tuesday-Friday, the “To Go from The Joe” model will grow in several ways. Among the changes are an expansion of hours. On Tuesdays through Fridays, online ordering will be available from 11 am to 6 pm, to give fans the opportunity to purchase both lunch and dinners. The RiverDogs are also beginning a partnership with DoorDash, so in addition to pick-up at The Joe, for the first time ever RiverDogs ballpark food can be delivered right to your door – during those same expanded hours.
And, the already expansive menu has a few exciting changes. For one, assorted six-packs of beer, including Budweiser brands and local brews from Common House and Palmetto, will be available for pickup. The club has also added onto healthier meal options, in partnership with MUSC Health, including several entrée salads. In addition, Vice President of Food and Beverage Josh Shea has added two new sections to the menu:
- The RiverDogs Pantry, which offers customers home goods (including toilet paper and paper towels) and fresh produce that can be included with any order
- Weekend “Make Fun” Meals, which offers chef-prepped family meals to take home and cook yourself, again with beer and wine included.“
We miss RiverDogs baseball at the ballpark and we know our fans do, too,” president and general manager Dave Echols said. “So the least we can do is make sure they can get their favorite ballpark food, and at least for a meal, have that feeling of enjoying an evening down at The Joe.”
The “To Go” food service, which features Shea whipping up ballpark favorites and specialties out of the Segra Club at Riley Park kitchen, began in late March when it became obvious Opening Day would be delayed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Some things are staying the same, too. The RiverDogs will continue to offer two free undated ticket vouchers with every order, and a free pack of baseball card with every kids meal. Mondays will continue to be reserved for the club to deliver free lunches to those in our community helping to fight the spread of COVID-19. Each Monday, the RiverDogs deliver lunches to MUSC Health’s drive-thru testing site at Citadel Mall, and also prepare lunches for members of the Charleston Police Department. Customers who order meals for pick-up have the option to donate $10 to help this mission of feeding front-line workers.
