Proceeds from Charleston Artist’s Custom Vans to Benefit The Alley
Downtown entertainment hub The Alley received some good news this week courtesy of one of its employees and Vans, the popular shoe company.
Lauren Ridenour, an artist and waitress at The Alley, submitted a shoe design to Vans for their “Foot The Bill” contest. The company created the competition to help small businesses during this difficult time. They partnered with local and community-driven skate shops, restaurants, art galleries and music venues to support them with custom-designed Vans footwear.
Ridenour’s Charleston-themed design was one of the winners and is now available for purchase online. Net proceeds from the sale of each pair of these special Vans Customs will go directly to The Alley’s Employee Relief Fund.
In her submission, Ridenour said she wanted the shoes to “reflect the diverse and creative Charleston community. The different faces and colors were inspired by the different people and places that make up our home. During these challenging times, we realize that we are stronger together and we will all get through this because we are all one.” You can see her video submission below.
