North Charleston Returning to Normal Operations with Strict Guidelines

Press Release from the City of North Charleston:

North Charleston operations will return to normal on Monday, May 11. The public will be permitted access to North Charleston City Hall beginning Wednesday, May 13 with strict guidelines. However, citizens are still highly encouraged to interact with city departments and employees online and by phone.

Citizens entering City Hall:

    • Citizen will be read a questionnaire (below) to inquire of potential Covid-19 symptoms or exposures. If a citizen answers yes to any questions, they will not be allowed in City Hall.
    • Citizen will be given a face covering, if they do not already have one, and provided hand sanitizer prior to going through security.
    • Sanitizer stations are located throughout building.
    • Face covering must be worn at all times within City Hall. Those refusing to comply will not be granted access to City Hall, and those who remove their face covering will be escorted out of the facility.

Community Centers, Senior Centers, and the Fire Museum remain closed to the public. 

Parks, green space, trails, dog parks, disc golf course, fishing piers, and picnic shelters will reopen on Monday, May 11 with the following restrictions:

    • Social distancing is required (immediate family groups excluded)
    • Group gatherings are prohibited (unless amended by Governor’s orders).
    • Fenced in locations (i.e. dog parks) will have a limited capacity. Those capacities will be posted at the entrance of each location and will be enforced.

Municipal Court will not schedule cases until June 1st. Courts will be addressed pending the SC Chief Justice guidance as well as City requirements for safe opening.

Reopening City facilities and returning to pre-COVID-19 practices are based on guidance from SCDHEC, CDC, Executive Orders in place by the Governor and the rate of viral spread with care taken to provide the highest level of safety for our citizens and employees.

      6. Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea more than usual

      9. None of the above
    2. Have you been diagnosed as having Coronavirus disease?
    3. Have you traveled outside the United States or to New York, New Jersey, California, and Washington State or anywhere in the United States with large numbers of Coronavirus cases
    4. In the last 14 days, have you had contact with anyone with diagnosed Coronavirus disease?
