Dorchester Convenience Site Closing on June 16th
The Dorchester County Public Works Department today announced the closing of the Dorchester Convenience Site located at 312 Limestone Road, effective at 6 pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. The closure is due to the inability to secure a lease for continued use of the property.
Beginning, Thursday June 18, 2020, residents who would have normally used the Dorchester Convenience Site should begin utilizing the Sandy Pines site located at 374 Sandy Pines Lane.
The Sandy Pines site is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.
The following items can be disposed of at the Sandy Pines Site:
- Household Trash
- Appliances
- Scrap Metal
- Yard Debris
- C&D debris
- Tires
- Furniture & Mattresses (Brown Goods)
- Cardboard/Mixed Paper
- Car Batteries
- Motor Oil, Oil Filters & Cooking Oil
“We apologize for any inconvenience the closing of the Dorchester Site may cause the residents of Dorchester County,” said Dorchester County Director of Public Works, Jason Carraher. “While we are saddened to no longer operate the Dorchester Site, residents are encouraged to use the Sandy Pines site, conveniently located 3.5 miles from the Dorchester site location to properly dispose of household garbage and recyclable materials.”
Directions from the Dorchester Site to the Sandy Pines Site:
- From Limestone Road turn left onto HWY 78
- Go 3/4 of a mile and turn right on Delee Circle
- Take the first right onto Sandy Pines Lane
- Follow the signs 1.6 miles to 374 Sandy Pines Lane
