Democrat Jen Gibson won the Democratic Primary on June 6th for the open seat in SC House District 99. The General Election will be held on November 3rd, 2020.

Gibson said she was inspired to run in 2018 after she struggled to find a school for her son with special needs and nurse her father through his battle with pancreatic cancer. When Gibson was asked why she would run again in 2020, she stated, “Folks were promised education and infrastructure reform in 2018, and we didn’t get it. We deserve a government that delivers the services we paid for with our tax dollars.”

Jen Gibson was a successful small business owner for twenty years before joining Trident Literacy Association as the Director of Philanthropy.

“My grandad never learned to read or write, so an organization dedicated to literacy and helping people get their GED was the best way I knew to create meaningful change in our community,” Gibson said.

Gibson says her 2020 platform focuses on a comprehensive, long-term infrastructure plan for the district, education reform, access to affordable healthcare and a commitment to serve the voters of District 99 with honesty and integrity.

“We spend so much time sitting in traffic that we miss out on what makes living in the Lowcountry so special,” she said.
