Dorchester County Transitions to OPCON 2 Closely Monitoring Hurricane Isaias

The following is a press release from Dorchester County regarding Hurricane Isaias:

The Dorchester County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) transitioned to Operating Condition (OPCON) 2 at 8 am today, Saturday, August 1st closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias.

OPCON 2 means Logistics, Mass Care, Transportation and Public Information Emergency Support Functions (ESF) have been activated and are making preparation for possible impacts to Dorchester County. Public Safety, Public Works and Water & Sewer crews have begun pre-storm preparations. All other emergency support functions are on stand-by.

County officials and staff continue to participate in daily conference calls to remain up to date on the storm’s path and potential impacts. While the path of Isaias remains uncertain, residents are encouraged to review their hurricane preparedness and evacuation plans. Dorchester County residents can locate their zone by visiting DorchesterCountySC.gov/Isaias.

Dorchester County Council Chairman, George Bailey said “I have full confidence in the Dorchester County Emergency Operations Team that works collectively with our state and regional partners to plan, prepare and respond to any impacts Hurricane Isaias may have on Dorchester County and the Lowcountry.” Bailey added “I urge all residents to prepare now.”

DorchesterCountySC.gov/Isaias will serve as the central information hub for all Hurricane Isaias updates. Residents are also encouraged to sign up to receive emergency updates and follow Dorchester County Government on Facebook and Twitter.
