Palmetto Community Care Expands Testing Days
Palmetto Community Care (PCC) has once again expanded on site testing in observance of the Second Annual Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (SHAAD) on Thursday, August 20th. They will offer testing Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 2 pm of that week and then move to a permanent schedule of testing Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 am to 2 pm starting August 24th.
PCC has been closely monitoring cases of COVID-19 in the surrounding area and has maintained sanitization before and after each client; including pre-screening clients and providing masks during the testing sessions. All testing is by appointment only and open to anyone 16 years and older. The week is inspired by the Second Annual Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day which was founded by the national organization, Southern AIDS Coalition. PCC will also focus on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the South via their many social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube.
Clients are encouraged with this year’s theme of “Pursue the Possible” to access free HIV testing and know their status. The Southern AIDS Coalition will be sharing awareness efforts across the South via their social media. More information and stats can be found at southernsolution.org.
Testing is open to anybody by appointment only (no drop-ins): by texting (843) 790-4299, calling (803) 216-5108), or emailing prevention@palmettocare.org. All clients will receive free condoms, information on PrEP, and safer sex counseling. Testing hours and locations are as follows:
- When: Monday, August 17th through Thursday, August 20th 8:30 am – 2 pm
- Where: Palmetto Community Care, 3547 Meeting Street Road, North Charleston, SC, 29405
- Who: Anyone 16 years or older
