Press Release

On September 19th, 2020, Charleston artists Charlotte Fraser and Robin Howard will debut their show Fantastic Beasts at Miller Gallery. The show will combine two of the artists’ passions: nature and magical realism.

Fraser is known for her vibrant paintings of beetles, all of which don’t actually exist in nature. Howard is an assemblage artist who intentionally creates shadowboxes works or sculptures that evoke a sense of discovery and mystery. Both create elaborate backstories.

Fraser’s new body of work features larger-than-life, brightly colored beetles on a black background. The focal point of Howard’s new assemblages are antique tin insects that range in age from the early 1900s to the 1950s.

Curated to spark curiosity, Miller Gallery celebrates these two fantastical artists in an environment ripe with creativity. Guests will be encouraged to engage with their surroundings while experiencing the exhibition.

Fantastic Beasts opens at Miller Gallery on September 19th. Limited capacity (12 people at a time) will be honored. Masks required for entry.

Artwork will be available online and in-person. For more info, email info@millergallerychs.com. Miller Gallery is open 12 pm to 4 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
