Meet Brookgreen Garden’s Chief Deerhound Officer
In honor of National Dog Day on August 26th, Brookgreen Garden shared some information about their Chief Deerhound Officer – Angus the Scottish Deerhound. Holy City Sinner can confirm through their sources that Angus is a very good boy.
Brookgreen was founded by Anna Hyatt Huntington in 1931. She loved Scottish Deerhounds and even started a breeding kennel that was home to several championship bloodlines. In April 2019, Brookgreen brought Angus to the gardens in honor of the Huntingtons.
This year, Brookgreen staff member Viki Richardson and volunteer Millie Doud wrote and illustrated Angus, The Gentle Giant, a children’s book that follows a group of school children on a field trip to Brookgreen Gardens, where the children not only learn to not be afraid of Angus, but they explore the significant history of Scottish Deerhounds to Brookgreen Gardens. The book is available online here.
