Warrior Surf Foundation Announces Keepin’ It Reel Fishing Tournament
Folly Beach-based nonprofit Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF), which works to provide Veterans with surf therapy, yoga, and wellness programs, has announced its Inaugural Keepin’ It Reel Fishing Tournament.
On October 24th, from 7 am to 3 pm, participants ages 13-16 (youth category) and 17+ (adult category) can launch from any dock or public landing in Charleston to catch Sheepshead, Redfish, and Flounder to win cash prizes. 100% of all entry fees will go towards WSF’s 12-week program to help Veterans struggling with PTSD, transitional issues, and other mental health challenges.
Participants are asked to email pictures of their catches using the detailed rules found online. In addition to categories for Sheepshead, Redfish, and Flounder, the “You’ve Been Schooled” category asks participants to catch the biggest fish they can using a child’s pole.
Entry fees range from $50-65 per person (ages 17 and up) and $25-$40 per person (ages 13-16)- depending on what categories you are registering for. The entry fee includes a swag bag with an entrant ID card, tape measure, t-shirt, and other fun surprises. Men and women fishing for a great cause are encouraged to share their catches on social media tagging @WarriorSurf, #warriorsurf and #keepinitreel.
