6 Fantastic Homemade Treats to Brighten Your Day

Published

on

Sometimes during the day, you need a treat or snack that makes a bad day better or even normal day extra special. This treat does not have to take a ton of time to prepare. However, it can certainly set a happy mood for the rest of the day. You can even make these treats with friends and family for an added element of fun.

Dalgona Coffee

The first treat is one that has taken the internet by storm for more than a couple of months now and more people are trying it every day. If you are a coffee lover, then you will enjoy trying this out. All you need to create a cup of Dalgona or whipped coffee is a bowl, instant coffee, sugar, a whisk, and some time on your hand. Put instant coffee into the bowl, and then add sugar, a splash of water and whisk everything together until the mixture turns into a whipped texture with stiff peaks. The ratio is 1:1 when it comes to sugar and coffee. So if you want to make enough for one cup of coffee, then add one teaspoon of coffee, a teaspoon of sugar and a tiny splash of water. If you are making such a small quantity using a fork would be better than using a big whisk. After whipping the mixture to the right consistency, you can pour some cold milk into a glass with some ice, and carefully place the whipped coffee mixture on top. It is a very aesthetic drink to have and is a refreshing way to drink your coffee, especially on hot summer days.

Refreshing Frappe

Frappes are amazing to have, however, they can be a bit pricey if gotten from a coffee shop. Using a blender and your favorite toppings you can make your favorite frappe at home as a treat to brighten up your day. You will need a cup of ice, a quarter cup of your choice of milk, cold coffee, and honey or simple syrup to add some sweetness. This is going to be the base of your frappe. You can then add different flavors like caramel or matcha to the mix to get the result that you want. It always helps to have a go-to matcha recipe that really hits the spot by adding layers and giving a unique flavor to your frappe. For a matcha infused frappe, add chocolate syrup for a mocha frappe, or caramel sauce for a caramel one. The best thing about frappes is that you can use different substitutes for milk and you will end up making a drink that has a very similar if not the same taste as a frappe you’d purchase.

Crepe Cake

Crepes are light and airy which make them the perfect treat if you want to eat something sweet that is not dense. Crepes are made from a very simple flour and egg batter. For each cup of flour in the batter, you will need two large eggs, two tablespoons of melted unsalted butter, half a cup of milk, half a cup of water and a pinch of salt. Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend them together until they are fully incorporated. People often use a whisk or hand-mixer, however, a blender ensures that there are no lumps in your mixture so the crepes come out even better. You will need a pan to cook the crepes in. Brush your pan with a very small amount of oil to prevent your crepes from sticking, place the pan on medium heat, and when it heats up, pour in a quarter cup of the crepe batter. You need to quickly spread the batter around because it will start to cook in a matter of seconds. When you can pull up the edges of the crepe, flip it and cook it for another 30 seconds on the other side then take it off the heat.

After you finish cooking all your crepes, you can make some whipped cream using heavy cream, sugar, and a whisk, then proceed to layer the crepes and cream until all crepes are used up. It can be eaten like that, or you can make a simple ganache by heating half a cup of heavy cream and pouring it over a bar of chocolate, then mixing them until smooth and pouring it all over the top of the crepe.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich

This is a very easy treat to make. Of course, you can make chocolate chip cookies from scratch, but to save time and effort, you can just buy your favorite brand of chocolate chip cookies and make sure that they are an even number. You also need to buy a pint of ice cream, preferably in a paper carton so that you can cut through it easily with a knife. All you need to do now is place the carton down sideways on a cutting board and cut through it to make perfect ice cream circles, add it between two chocolate chip cookies, and munch away.

Salted-Caramel Fudgy Brownies

Everyone has a favorite brownies recipe that they are used to. This will take it a step further and make a normal treat into an amazing one. All you need to do is after mixing the batter of your brownies, you need to add some caramel sauce before placing it in the oven. You can make the sauce by simply adding a half-cup of the sugar in a saucepan on the stove until it melts into caramel, then place a tablespoon of butter and a quarter cup of cream. After mixing everything together, swirl the caramel into the batter and place it in the oven for the specified amount of time. When it is out, sprinkle some salt on top.

Watermelon Smoothie

During the summer months, watermelon is a staple in many homes. You can make yourself a very easy watermelon smoothie by cutting cubes of watermelon and throwing them into a blender with some ice and simple syrup. You can also make it more refreshing by adding some mint to the smoothie.

These six recipes are quite simple and do not require ingredients that you do not already have lying around in the kitchen. However, they can certainly elevate your mood and brighten your day. You can also adjust these recipes according to your preferences and food allergies so that you can still enjoy different treats without having to worry about consequences later.
