Trident United Way’s virtual school supply drive delivers much-needed items to local schools
Press Release
Trident United Way and our partners are busy delivering school supplies to classrooms in need across the Tri-County.
Led by volunteers who are part of Trident United Way’s Young Leaders United, they came through with an incredible effort to fund nearly $42,000 worth of school supplies!
More than 300 individual donors and 16 companies opened their hears to collect nearly 8,000 items for children in need at elementary schools in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Despite many students working virtually to begin the year, items are still vital for classrooms and teachers.
All supplies purchased will be distributed to Title I elementary schools in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.
Some donors like Carolina One and Select Health of South Carolina stepped up to provide hundreds of backpacks and supplies. Select Health has a special health message for parents and students.
Education is one of three focus areas for Trident United Way, along with Financial Stability and Health. We are working with community partners to identify innovative programs and resources for our Tri-County community that support parents, connect families with programs and resources as well as make sure all children are kindergarten ready by age five.
Trident United Way is grateful for our teachers and support staff and hopes the community can stand UNITED behind a successful and safe upcoming school year.
