Southbound 17 Announces New Single Due September 18th
Charleston-based band Southbound 17 will release a new single titled “No Vacancy” on September 18th. This will be their first new release in over 4 years.
The band says “No Vacancy” will introduce a more mature, nuanced sound where they leave behind their stripped back acoustic beginnings in favor of a “warm East Coast spin on a classic Western sound.”
“We were so young when we put out our first EP,” Jack Austen said. “This is kind of like a reintroduction for us.”
The trio recorded the track in Nashville at OmniSound Studios with the help of three expert session players: Sam Hunter, Russ Pahl, and Nathan Sexton.
“Working with them was unlike anything we have ever done before”, Austen said. “They were able to take our music to a place that sonically fit the lyrics so perfectly.”
Southbound 17 will celebrate the release by opening for local artist Warrick McZeke at the Windjammer Sunset Stage on September 19th at 6 pm. The band consists of Austen, Jacob Simmons, and Katie Bailey.
