Middleton Place to Host “Art in the Barn,” A Fundraiser for the Stableyards

Gulf coast sheep, water buffalo, guinea hogs, and cashmere goats are just some of the heritage breeds that reside at Middleton Place National Historic Landmark. The animals are unique to this region and are an important part of the educational program offered at the historic site.  

On October 30th, Middleton Place will host “Art in the Barn” from 6 pm – 9 pm in the Stableyards. Funds raised from the event will go directly to the daily care and maintenance of the heritage breeds. This is a unique opportunity for guests to spend the evening mingling with the animals and Stableyards staff, learning more about animal husbandry, and supporting the Stableyards educational program at Middleton Place.

Framed art of the breeds, 2021 calendars, and handcrafted items made by the artisans at Middleton Place will be available for purchase. Raffles including a VIP private carriage ride and a night at the Middleton Place Inn will take place throughout the evening.

“Funds will go directly to animal feed, veterinarian care and husbandry/maintenance supplies,” said Hannah Carter, Stableyards manager. “We hope that visitors will continue to return to Middleton Place, but right now during COVID-19 we are relying on donors for support.”

Tickets to “Art in the Barn” are $35 and include hors-d’oeuvres, live music, and two drink tickets for beer or wine. Additional beer and wine will be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased online at www.middletonplace.org until October 26th.

This is an outdoor event where social distancing can be practiced.  CDC safety guidelines will be in place. If you are unable to attend the event, but would like to support the Stableyards, visit middletonplace.org/donate.
