Brookgreen Gardens to Host Annual Beer Festival in Immersive Light Display

Brookgreen Gardens will host its tenth annual Brew at The Zoo on Saturday, November 7, 2020. New for this year, the event will be held in Bruce Munro’s expansive work of art and exhibit, “Field of Light.” Guests will be able to sip more than 30 craft brews, enjoy food from local food trucks, and listen to live music while experiencing Munro’s immersive light display installed on Brookgreen’s arboretum.

“The Field of Light installation serves as the perfect backdrop for a beautiful fall evening of sampling local and national craft brews while taking in an internationally acclaimed artist’s work,” Page Kiniry, Brookgreen Gardens president and CEO, said. “We are thrilled that Brew at the Zoo will offer guests another chance to see the most raved-about installation from our summer show.”

Field of Light features over 12,000 stems of light that slowly change colors, creating a shimmering effect over Brookgreen’s arboretum. Guests will walk the paths through the arboretum surrounding themselves with the thousands of glowing orbs, creating a truly magical experience. Internationally known artist Bruce Munro initially installed Field of Light as a part of Bruce Munro at Brookgreen: Southern Light exhibit as one of seven works of art that were displayed at Brookgreen Gardens over the summer. For Brew at the Zoo, Field of Light will be the only display for this event.

Tickets are $40 for members, $45 for the general public and $20 for guests designated as drivers. One ticket is required for each person, and space is limited. This event is only open to those aged 21 and over. All proceeds from this event will support Brookgreen Gardens, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

Due to COVID-19, Brookgreen Gardens has enacted safety protocols to ensure the safety of all visitors. All guests are asked to observe social distancing guidelines and wear a mask or comparable face covering to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In compliance with Georgetown County Emergency Ordinance 20-33, masks should always be used in any interior spaces, including public restrooms.
