EGR Operators iGaming Awards Goes Virtual For 2020
If it were any other year, the EGR operators award ceremony would have a prestigious location lined up with big-name iGaming firms making an appearance in person to pick up their awards. However, this year due to recent events the ceremony has a new name – ‘EGR Operator Virtual Awards 2020’ – as the world’s largest online casino awards event goes virtual for the first time in its history.
The EGR Awards Ceremony is known as ‘The Oscars iGaming’ and what a show this is!
Year on year the top firms in the online casino industry working hard to bring innovative iGaming to mobile and desktop screen globally all show up not only to collect their awards but also to give us insights into their journey to the top. You can find these software provider reviews on this website.
The question is, can the EGR produce an event just as entertaining as the live version?
Its online ceremony will take place between 11 and 12 November and registration for the event is still open and admittedly reading the agenda, the ceremony does have some exciting pre-event highlights giving us a taste of what we can expect.
For all those involved, this is an opportunity to make the most of it, and seeing as all involved are in the business of online gambling, the event should prove to be every bit as entertaining as the live version plus with a few added extras.
Also, a notable point to make is that despite the fact this event is now virtual, it will still run for 2 days!
Last Year’s Live EGR Awards Event
Last year the event took place live with over 30 categories including ‘Casino Operator’ of the year won by 888, ‘In-play Sports Operator’ of the year won by Bet365, and ‘Video Slots Operator’ of the year won by Flutter Entertainment. The overall ‘Operator’ of the year award went to GVC Holdings.
While for online casino fans the most important category is the ‘Game of the year’ which Evolution Gaming (now known as ‘Evolution’) won this award with its Lightning Roulette live casino game.
As always, the event went down with a bang with lot’s game demos, examples, and plenty of operators all competing. This year the EGR will need to come up with something special as the virtual event will surely not match the live version so it will be interesting to see what the organisation comes up with.
This Year’s EGR Awards Shortlist
Nominations were made a few months ago and since then the EGR teams shortlisted those challenging for each award. In the Operator’ of the year awards, there is still competition with Bet365 and GVC Holdings looking to pick up the same award for the second year running.
888 is also back in the running for the ‘Casino Operator’ of the year award while Evolution is back in the running with its ‘Crazy Time’ live casino game show game, but it is unlikely to win this year as it faces stiff competition from the other contenders all entering the running with popular online video slot titles.
Winners Speeches
As with the live event, the EGR team will have winners speeches with a representative from each of the shortlisted iGaming firms ready to graciously accept the reward with what we would assume to be a prepared speech in anticipation of winning the award.
Virtual Charity Race
Before this year’s event gets underway, the EGR decided to add some drama in a fun virtual charity race. The participants are teams from the software providers and online companies involved in this year’s EGR awards event.
Presentations from Software Providers and iGaming Firms Shortlisted
As with the live event many of those shortlisted for an award are going to take to the stage, be it a virtual stage on this occasion’ to tell us about their year, changes, trends, and how they adapted to what is one of the most challenging years in the industry.
For online sportsbooks, we can expect to hear how they dealt with a complete ban on sports while online casino operators should explain how they handled a huge increase in online players due to global lockdowns.
Plus, new technology introduced to the online casino scene to help members of online gambling sites gamble more responsibly should make interesting viewing.
It looks like an event jam-packed with entertainment, so let us hope we have an EGR Awards ceremony to remember!
