Camp Happy Days will Host their 31st Annual Gala on February 26, 2021
Camp Happy Days (CHD) a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and services to South Carolina’s children diagnosed with cancer and their families announced today that it will be hosting its largest, single fundraiser and highly anticipated 31st Annual Gala on February 26th, 2021.
Every year, the “Cabooty Gala” brings together CHD supporters and the Charleston community for a night of fun and philanthropy. The Gala’s fundraising helps support the 14 cost-free, year-round programs, special events, and access to crisis resources they offer.
This year brings a change of venue and will mark the first year that the gala will be held at Charleston’s newest outdoor event venue, The Refinery, located at 1640 Meeting Street. In celebration of the 31st anniversary of the gala’s founding, CHD will be rolling out the red carpet and transforming The Refinery into an exciting Carnival-themed festival called “Hello, Rio!.”
Also new this year will be a coordinated virtual house/watch party option. CHD invites the Charleston community, their supporters, and friends to join in person or host a virtual house/watch party. The very popular and sought-after auction items will be available to all attendees, several ways; live, on-line, and live streamed.
There will be signature cocktails and costumes are encouraged, in fact they suggest attendees embellish and decorate their own masks since they will be required. Camp Happy Days expects this to be an amazing event, they promise delicious food, live music, and dancing.
“The ‘Hello, Rio!’ Gala will be an inspirational and fun-filled evening raising funds which are critical to fulfill our mission,” Cindy Hay Johnson, Camp Happy Days’ Executive Director, said. “The programs we provide give these children hope, the will to continue fighting their battles against cancer, and the chance to just be kids. The staff, board of directors and many generous volunteers work very hard to create this fantastic event, we anticipate over 250 attendees and are so excited to get together for the 31st Annual Camp Happy Days Gala!”
CHD will adhere to all DHEC, CDC and local guidelines pertaining to masking and capacity to host a safe, in person, socially distanced event.
Childhood cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease among children under the age of 15 in the United States. Every day, 43 children from all ethnic, genders, and socio-economic groups are diagnosed with cancer and more than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year. All funds raised at the event will go to funding CHD’s cost-free, year-round programming, support, and services.
