Deadline to Appeal Reassessment Notices is December 10
Charleston County citizens have until December 10 to submit an objection (appeal) if they disagree with the reassessment notices sent by the Assessor’s Office in September. The deadline is a legal deadline the Assessor’s Office has no authority to extend. Taxpayers are strongly encouraged to file objections immediately and not wait until the deadline.
Objections must be submitted in writing to the Charleston County Assessor’s Office located at 3875 Faber Place, Suite 100, North Charleston, SC 29405. Due to COVID-19, citizens are strongly encouraged to file objections by mail and not visit the office. Objections cannot be filed by fax, email or other electronic means. The reassessment notice included an objection form, an example of which can be found online here: https://www.charlestoncounty.org/departments/assessor/files/Sample-Objection-Form-only.pdf.
Objections (Appeals) must be received or postmarked no later than December 10. Taxpayers are urged to mail in objections immediately to ensure they are received and that there is no question about timely mailing.
