High Wire Distilling Co. to Release Two Special Whiskies on Saturday

On Saturday, December 5th, Charleston’s High Wire Distilling Co. will release two special whiskey expressions: their flagship Jimmy Red Bourbon finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks and a Rye Whiskey finished in Tawny Port Barrels.

Here are the details on each offering:

• Rye Whiskey Finished in Tawny Port Barrels
  • 90 proof
  • “Starting with our 100% raw Abruzzi rye whiskey, we finished this 18 month old spirit for an additional 6 months in freshly dumped Tawny Port barrels. The result is a complex spirit heralding notes of florals, fruitcake, ripe cherry, rye spice, and antique wood with a long finish.”
• Jimmy Red Bourbon Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks
  • 93 proof
  • “To make this one-of-a-kind spirit, we finished our beloved 30 month old Jimmy Red Bourbon for an additional 6 months in fresh 225L Oloroso Sherry casks. The nose is sherry-forward with nutty cashew and cinnamon spice. Tasting notes include brown sugar, maple, gingerbread, graham cracker, light baking spice, and dried fruit with a caramel finish.:

These limited release whiskeys will be available for sale in High Wire’s Tasting Room when they open for retail sales at 10 am Saturday morning at 311 Huger Street. At 11 am, they will email a link to their online store to make bottles available for purchase. All bottles purchased through this link are for pick-up only at the distillery. Given the current circumstances of social distancing, High Wire strongly encourages you to purchase online, so they can stagger traffic in the Tasting Room.

Please note all purchases made directly with High Wire are subject to a 3 bottle limit per person per day due to SC state law. Any online purchase totaling more than 3 bottles will be voided. Online purchases will be held for pick-up until March 31st, 2021 unless special arrangements are made. Items not picked up by that date will be re-stocked for sale. You must be 21 or over to place an order, and customers must present a valid ID and proof of purchase at pick up.
