Non-Profit Hosting Virtual Workshop on Mental Health for Young People

Exquisite Kids is hosting a virtual workshop on mental health for pre-adolescents and adolescents on Thursday, March 11th, 2021 at 7 pm. The event is set to take place online at www.exquisitekidsrule.org.

“Mental illness should not be something to be ashamed of or thought of differently,” event organizer Kimberly Bowman said. “When mental illness is treated equally to other illnesses, more people will have the courage to get help and better their lives. This especially important for our youth, who are often overlooked in the conversation of Mental Health.”

The virtual workshop is an hour and a half long presentation, followed by a discussion on the importance of mental health for pre-adolescents and adolescents, and how their families and communities can support them. The workshop will be lead by Memphis based, Dr. Stella Enyi Okereke-Nwokeji, Ph.D., J.D., FMP, who is experienced in topics of mental health for youth and a licensed Family Medicine Practitioner for over 28 years.

“Exquisite Kids takes the well-being and futures of young people seriously,” Bowman said. “We believe it is our duty to keep them, and their families well informed on the issues and topics that most affect them.”

Exquisite Kids was founded in 2017 but has recently shifted its focus to creative intervention within the community, which they hope will help aid in character development for young people in the Lowcountry. This workshop is the first of many collaborative opportunities to come. They hope to partner with more leaders and organizations in the future to continue educating the public on these topics and creating safe spaces for adolescents to express themselves free of judgment. The workshop is free to the public, and all members of the community are encouraged to attend.
