Junior League of Charleston to Host Annual Gown Affair
The Junior League of Charleston (JLC) invites the community to attend their annual fundraiser, A Gown Affair, on Friday, January 15th. This all-virtual “Girls Night Out” sale will start at 5 am on Friday, January 15th, and conclude at 5 pm on Thursday, January 21st. A $7 ticket, which can be purchased on the JLC’s website, will give each shopper access to the exclusive online dress sale platform and silent auction.
The JLC’s A Gown Affair offers deeply discounted merchandise from several local boutiques and showcases evening gowns, cocktail dresses, bridal wear and accessories from locally owned stores like Rhodes Boutique, Bella Bridesmaids Charleston and Maddison Row South. Some featured dress designers include Morilee, Pronovias, Amsale and Lela Rose Luxury Wedding Dresses, Adrianna Papell and Julie Brown NYC.
A digital silent auction will be held along with the drawing for our raffle prize. This year, the signature raffle item is a pair of 18k white gold and diamond earrings with Tahitian pearls from Croghan’s Jewel Box, valued at $2,650. The winner will be selected at random on January 22, 2021, at 8 pm.
Some examples of our exciting silent auction items include a Tory Burch purse and wallet with a VIP shopping experience for 10, a two-night stay in a deluxe room at the Belmond Charleston, a $3,000 gift certificate from Sanders Fine Portraits and a $1,000 gift certificate to Body by Design Charleston.
“This year’s event may look different from previous years, but the outcome is the same – an elevated shopping experience while helping the community at large. All proceeds from this event will go back to the mission of the Junior League of Charleston, which is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers,” says Beth Meredith, Junior League of Charleston president.
