Press Release

Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, the region’s leading resource to prevent abuse, protect children and heal families, will initiate a nationwide search for a new executive director, as Dr. Carole Swiecicki has announced her transition to reduced hours with the nonprofit organization to spend more time at home with her daughter, who she welcomed in 2019.
The board of directors is in the process of forming a transition committee to select a new full-time executive director, which will include Swiecicki. The process will begin in January and is expected to take 6 to 12 months.
“Carole has done so much for Dee Norton over the years and has set the organization up for continued success while opening the second location in Mount Pleasant to be able to help more than 3,500 children annually,” said Amy Davidson, Board Chair of Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center. “A transition committee made up of board and staff members, including Carole, will be formed as we look to expand our leadership with the hiring of the next full-time executive director.”
The organization welcomed Swiecicki as the executive director in 2015 to further its mission to promote and support communities through a coordinated investigation and comprehensive response to child victims of abuse through the children’s advocacy center and multi-disciplinary teams. Under Swiecicki’s leadership, Dee Norton has expanded to two locations and successfully been awarded significant federal grants toward the Center’s mission to prevent abuse, protect children, and heal families across the Lowcountry.
“Dee Norton holds a critical role in this community and, together with our multidisciplinary partners, our work has a tremendous impact on helping children and families overcome abuse,” said Swiecicki. “I am honored to work with this nationally-recognized organization and am committed to helping find a new full-time executive director who will further advance the Center’s important mission.”
Dee Norton will continue to be the leading child abuse and trauma center and offer its primary services, including immediate support and assistance to children and their families through forensic interviews, medical examinations, mental health assessments and telehealth.
