Press Release

Today, the American Lung Association in South Carolina announced that Motley Rice LLC has signed on as the presenting sponsor of Lip Sync For Lungs Live Battle V, set for March 11. This is the fifth year that the company has supported the event as the Presenting Sponsor.

At Lip Sync For Lungs, local celebrities perform lip sync and dance routines in an epic show-down to win the title of Lip Sync Battle Champion. The event, which typically takes place at Charleston Music Hall, is reimagined for 2021 as an interactive hybrid experience. Participants can attend the drive-in event at The Bend or stream the event from home.

“Through events like the Lip Sync for Lungs, we are able to fund our work to improve air quality, educate residents on lung health and COVID-19, and help people who live with lung disease,” said MargaretAnn Youngs, senior manager of development for the Lung Association. “But we can’t do it alone. Our collaboration with Motley Rice helps us provide vital support to the Charleston community and residents throughout South Carolina. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those suffering from lung cancer, this support makes people’s lives better every day.”

Motley Rice is one of the nation’s largest plaintiffs’ litigation firms, and their attorneys have played leadership roles in some of the most significant cases to go through U.S. courts. The firm advocates for the rights of workers, consumers, families and investors as they aggressively seek justice for people and institutions harmed by wrongdoing and negligence.

“In addition to our long-standing tradition to advocate for workers with lung disease, it is key to our firm’s mission to support the communities where our employees work and live. The American Lung Association’s work to support clean air and healthy lungs affects us all. We are proud to be involved with the organization’s Lip Sync For Lungs event,” said Lance Oliver, Motley Rice attorney and American Lung Association of South Carolina Board Chairman. “We hope to see our community come together for a fun and inspiring event.”

Money raised through Lip Sync For Lungs will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is an investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
