Maya del Sol Kitchen Now Open
Local chef and restaurateur Raul Sanchez (right) on Wednesday announced that Maya del Sol Kitchen is now open and accepting dinner reservations. Located on Reynolds Avenue, the restaurant offers a five-course chef’s table experience featuring Sanchez’s authentic Mexican — and Mexican-inspired — cuisine.
Differing from traditional restaurant formats, the chef’s table offers an ever-changing multi-course menu set and created by Chef Sanchez. This format allows more interaction between customers and the chef while each course is prepared and served. Dinner seatings are Thursday through Saturday by reservation only.
“The Kitchen will allow me to introduce dishes that I haven’t been able to make in the past, including family recipes that are 200 to 300 years old,” Chef Sanchez said. “Dishes that I really haven’t had time to make within the confines of a standard restaurant format, as well as, being able to create on a theme. A good example would be mole. You have red mole, white mole, green, orange, etc. All accent the dish differently.”
In addition to the evening chef’s tables, Maya del Sol Kitchen is open Sundays (10 am to 3 pm) for brunch on a first come, first served basis. The brunch menu changes weekly, featuring classics like house-made tamales, huevos rancheros, machacado, chilaquiles, and Sanchez’s very own rosemary pancakes.
Sanchez also plans to start offering fan favorites — like his famous Carne en su Jugo, tamales, and desserts — during daytime hours as take-home-and-reheat options.
Prior to Maya del Sol Kitchen, Chef Sanchez worked with R Kitchen, as well as owning and operating Raul’s Taqueria and Raul’s Maya del Sol, both in North Charleston.
The Kitchen observes current pandemic guidelines to help ensure everyone’s safety.
