Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation Donates $10,000 to The Charleston Forum
The Charleston Forum today announced a $10,000 donation made by the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation to support their ongoing effort to host an open and honest conversation on race and introduce solutions to improve our community. This donation is part of the Dominion Energy commitment to support social justice and community rebuilding efforts.
“We are so thankful for the support The Charleston Forum has received across the community and Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation’s generous donation will allow us to continue our work with the local community to develop solutions to racial disparities in education, criminal justice and economics,” Brian Duffy, CEO of The Charleston Forum, said.
”We are committed to making a difference in the communities we serve,” Rodney Blevins, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina, said. “We are proud to support The Charleston Forum as they work to continue the critical conversation surrounding social justice throughout the Lowcountry and beyond.”
In 2020, The Charleston Forum converted their programing online featuring community leaders including Senator Tim Scott, Congressman Jim Clyburn, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo and Former Georgia Minority Leader Stacey Abrams. These discussions included the impacts of COVID-19 on Charleston communities, racial disparities across the south, criminal justice and policing, disparities in health and healthcare and equity in education.
The Charleston Forum was born in 2015 in the wake of the Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church massacre. The Charleston Forum is a community project designed to promote productive discussions on issues of race.
