Anonymous Charleston Resident Matches $25,000 in Donations to Lip Sync For Lungs Event
The American Lung Association today announced that an anonymous Charleston resident has stepped up to match all donations made to the 5th annual Lip Sync For Lungs event up to $25,000. Between now and the event on March 11th, all mission donations made at LipSyncForLungs.org will be doubled.
Lip Sync For Lungs features five local celebrities performing lip sync and dance routines in an epic show-down to win the title of Lip Sync Battle Champion. The event, which typically takes place at Charleston Music Hall, was reimagined as an interactive hybrid experience. Participants can attend the drive-in event at The Bend or stream the event from home.
“Fighting to end lung disease, lung cancer and COVID-19 must be a collaborative effort,” said Margaret Ann Youngs, Senior Development Manager for the Lung Association. “It’s humbling to see the amazing support of our performers, sponsors, donors and the Charleston community, including this very generous donor. This incredible donation will help us in our mission to fund educational programs to assist people with lung disease and advocate for additional research to end lung cancer.”
Money raised at Lip Sync For Lungs will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is an investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
