NAWIC’S Palmetto Chapter to Host Event-Full Women in Construction Week
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)’s Palmetto Chapter of South Carolina will join chapters across the country to celebrate Women in Construction (WIC) Week, March 7-13, 2021. The focus of WIC Week, both nationally and locally, is to highlight and celebrate the advances of women as a growing subset within the construction industry.
The Palmetto Chapter, established in 2018, has planned 12 events over 6 days, including project site tours, production facility tours, social gatherings, motivational and inspirational speakers, lunch-and-learns, contractor demonstrations, and multiple community service events – offering a mix of in-person and virtual programming. Palmetto’s WIC Week schedule reflects the chapter’s passion for both its industry and community. The City of Charleston along with Goose Creek, Folly Beach, Moncks Corner, and Summerville have issued official WIC Week Proclamations. Visit www.nawicpalmetto.org/wic-week for additional event details. All events are open to the public. Some events may have limited capacity.
NAWIC’s Palmetto Chapter of South Carolina, established in 2018 with ever-growing membership and programming throughout Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, has led a push within the construction industry to answer the on-going question “What’s next for women in construction?” With strong leadership and engaged membership, the Palmetto Chapter has been able to promote the Chapter’s core values of Integrity, Inclusion, and Investing in The Future by furthering the discussion surrounding career paths within construction, and how those careers and opportunities are represented and promoted to both women and girls while engaging in outreach and service to elevate the Charleston community.
