Charleston-based Rheos Celebrates Locals & Local Waterways with Docuseries Cause Campaign

Charleston-based Rheos Nautical Eyewear today launched “H2OME,” a campaign to help locals “fall in love with our water and in turn be inspired to protect it.”

Throughout the spring, the local eye wear company will release weekly 1- to 2-minute episodes for a micro documentary series that celebrates our water and those who love it. As part of the campaign, Rheos is giving away 500 eco-friendly H2OME t-shirts with a $10 donation per shirt, totaling $5,000 in funds to participating nonprofits Charleston Waterkeeper, Charleston Surfrider Foundation and the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center.

“There’s a whole world open to anyone right in our backyard,” said Jake Berton, co-founder and CEO of Rheos. “With the launch of H2OME, we want to inspire our neighbors to meet someone new, learn something new and explore somewhere new.”

The H2OME docuseries launched today, with an episode premiering each week for 12 weeks. The series features locals who exemplify what it means to live by the water. Episodes include Jess Kehauani, an Olympic dragon boat racer and gold medalist; Tia Clark of Casual Crabbing with Tia, one of the top Airbnb experiences in the world; Daniel Brush and Joe Kowaleski of Carolina Shark Conservancy, an official NOAA Apex Predator partner; and Rheos’s own Lejend Bain, avid surfer and one of the startup’s key team members.

Episodes will also spotlight Rheos’s local nonprofit partners and campaign beneficiaries, including a ridealong with Charleston Waterkeeper and behind-the-scenes look at sea turtle surgeries at the Sea Turtle Care Center.

T-Shirt Giveaway & Donation Details

Rheos is giving away 500 eco-friendly H2OME t-shirts with a $10 donation gifted to the nonprofit of the customer’s choice at checkout. Locals can select from a drop down menu for their contribution to be gifted to Charleston Waterkeeper, Charleston Surfrider Foundatio, or the Sea Turtle Care Center.

“You don’t have to be an avid sportsman to get outside and enjoy all that the water has to offer,” said Rebecca Berton, Rheos’s co-founder and CMO. “It’s our greatest honor to help people fall in love with Charleston’s outdoor spaces and hopefully discover something new along the way. As Jess says in our first episode, ‘It’s never too late to try something new.’”
