Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc. Announces the Symphony Tour of Homes

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc. (CSOL®) announces its first ever Tour of Homes in downtown historic Charleston. For 44 years, the CSOL has hosted a month-long Designer Showhouse, a home transformed by area designers. Due to the pandemic, changes to the timing and format were made this year. The CSOL is holding a shorter event, still showcasing beautiful design and historic architecture.

The homes and gardens can be visited on self-guided tours either on Saturday, May 22nd, or Sunday, May 23rd, from 10 am to 6 pm. The homes and gardens will be in various sections of town to offer a taste of Charleston’s unique neighborhoods. Among the homes are:

• Two homes owned by interior designers and their families, allowing for unfettered creativity;
• A petite cottage, transformed with a mix of antiques and contemporary pieces into a chic second home;
• A grand home and former Designer Showhouse with expansive views of the Ashley River, with a hidden pool and garden;
• A tucked-away carriage house blending historic touches with modern livability, with a garden renewed by an in-demand landscape architect;
• A  lovely home that evolved from a past Designer Showhouse to an elegant family  retreat

Proceeds from the tour will support the Charleston Symphony and provide scholarships for music students in the tri-county area.

CSOL President Lyn Magee offered the following comment: As the largest institutional donor to our beloved Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the League has been forced to double our fund-raising efforts during this last year of COVID. We are proud of the energy demonstrated by our members, and we have managed to not only provide financial support to the orchestra, but also to maintain our scholarship program, albeit at reduced levels. We invite the people of the Lowcountry to share with us this unique opportunity to see inside some of historic Charleston’s landmark residences and gardens, while helping to keep classical music alive in the Lowcountry.

Advance tour tickets are available online through May 20 for $55. A Friend of the Symphony ticket is $150, including 2 one-day tickets, recognition on the website and in the tour brochure. Day of event tickets at Tour Headquarters are $60, available from 9:30 – 3:30 if not sold out.

About the CSOL

The CSOL is a multi-talented group of more than 230 dedicated volunteers whose purpose is to support the Charleston Symphony, encourage talented young musicians and inspire classical music lovers for generations to come. The CSOL is the largest institutional donor to the Symphony, providing over $173,000 last year.  For more than 50 years the CSOL has actively supported music education and funding for the arts. This year we plan to donate $20,000 to music scholarships and grants in the Lowcountry.

In addition to the Symphony Tour of Homes, the CSOL is selling tickets for a beautiful 2020 BMW X3 sDrive 30i. Tickets are just $125 each; only 1200 tickets are available. Purchase 3 tickets and get a 4th ticket free.   The winner will be drawn at a special Charleston Symphony event in late May. Date, time and location of the drawing will be announced later. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets are available at the Tour and online. All proceeds benefit the Charleston Symphony and CSOL Music Scholarships.
