Lowcountry Land Trust Hires New Chief Advancement Officer
Lowcountry Land Trust has hired Meg O’Halloran as chief advancement officer. She will work on the strategic direction of advancement initiatives, including designing and implementing the annual and long-term comprehensive fundraising plans as well as creating and implementing the Land Trust’s strategic communications and marketing plan.
As a member of the organization’s senior management team, O’Halloran will work closely with the Land Trust’s president and CEO along with the organization’s board of trustees. O’Halloran will develop and maintain significant relationships with corporate and foundation partners while creating and managing a portfolio of individual major donor prospects.
O’Halloran comes to the Lowcountry Land Trust with extensive experience in capital and principal gift fundraising. Driven by a love for the outdoors and natural spaces, she studied environmental studies, urban studies, and geography at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She spent four years as a campaign consultant with CCS Fundraising working for environmental, religious, and education clients and raising more than $35 million in the process.
After relocating to Charleston, O’Halloran joined the staff at The Citadel Foundation as the major gifts officer for athletics where she spent two years developing major giving strategies, working with non-revenue sports and building a network for young alumnae.
“I’m thrilled to return to my roots of sustainability and environmental conservation at the Lowcountry Land Trust,” O’Halloran said. “I look forward to spending every day working to preserve what makes the Lowcountry unique and beautiful.”
Lowcountry Land Trust works to preserve vital Lowcountry lands and waterways, having protected more than 147,000 acres across 14 counties in South Carolina.
Ashley Demosthenes, president and CEO, welcomed O’Halloran to the team, saying, “As chief advancement officer, Meg will play a key role in the Land Trust’s long-term success by enabling the organization to build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with the Land Trust’s constituent base and supporters. We are delighted to have Meg’s fundraising expertise and her passion for the environment and sustainability — it’s truly a perfect combination for this role.”
