City of Charleston Seeks Summer Lifeguards, Offers Free Training and Sign on Bonus
The City of Charleston is offering an incentive package for those interested in working as a Lifeguard for the Recreation Department’s Aquatics Division as this Summer.
How it works: All Summer Lifeguards hired to work at one of the four city pools will receive a sign on bonus of $200–half on their first paycheck and half at the end of the Summer employment.
Summer Lifeguards will be paid $13 per hour to monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers.
Additional details: Aquatics will also have two Lifeguard Certification Training Classes offered at no cost to any Summer Lifeguard hired who has not completed their certification at the time of hire. The two-day certification classes will be offered May 15 to 16 and May 22 to 23.
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older. The locations where lifeguards are needed are Herbert Hassel Pool (Peninsula), M.L.K. Jr, Pool (Peninsula), James Island Recreation Center (James Island) and W.L. Stephens Pool (West Ashley).
