Itinerant Literate Books to Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day

UPDATE: Due to weather, Itinerant Literate Books has moved their Independent Bookstore Day outdoor celebrations to Sunday, April 25th. While they’ll still be open on Saturday making the most of a rainy day (including weekend-long specials like buy 5+ books, get a free galley, and 20% off blind dates), all outdoor activities are Sunday.

On Saturday, April 24th, take a walk “where the wild things are” with Itinerant Literate Books as they transform their backyard for a COVID-conscious outdoor sale in celebration of Independent Bookstore Day (IBD).

Support your local, indie bookstore and enjoy Independent Bookstore Day exclusives, including limited-editions by Stephen King and Nigella Lawson, IBD-themed pencils and stencil, and more. Plus, make memories with a photo-opp, complete with “Where the Wild Things Are” props, and an all-day scavenger hunt.

Customers are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite monster and enter the ongoing costume contest while partaking in the lineup of bookish events happening throughout the day, including:

“Where the Wild the Wild Things Are” Storytime at 11 am
First, Itinerant Literate is kicking off the day in appreciation of their littlest monsters with a “Where the Wild Things Are” storytime. The reading will be followed by a fun craft to take home.

Costume Contest & Wild Rumpus at 4 pm
Next, little and big monsters combine for a last chance to enter the costume contest, plus a parade of all contestants showcasing their best Wild Rumpus dance moves!

Virtual Young Adult Authors in Conversation: Ryan Graudin and Laurie Devore at 6 pm (This will be still be held on Saturday, April 24th)
The penultimate event, Young Adult Authors in Conversation, will feature local authors Ryan Graudin and Laurie Devore chatting about writing coming-of-age stories. Registration is required. 

Big Monsters–Only Garden Party at 6 pm

Lastly, the day will conclude with a Big Monsters–Only Garden Party, inspired by Erin Morgenstern’s “The Starless Sea.” This BYOC evening cocktail party will feature special games and hidden prizes. Registration is required.
