Earth Heart Growers Partners with the Bosch Community Fund to Launch Garden Teacher Training

When Garden Teacher and Montessori Educator Liz Ramirez founded Earth Heart Growers (EHG) in 2015, her vision was simple: to connect school children with the source of their food – from seed, to soil, to plate.
Ramirez started at Hursey Elementary in North Charleston, and has since partnered with Montessori Community, Matilda Dustin, and Stillwater Montessori School. In partner schools, EHG implements garden education, culinary and baking programs, and regular trips to Joseph Fields Farm on Johns Island. They also offer a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, through which they distribute affordable food that the children help grow to school families.
EHG partnered with Bosch Community Fund, whose generous support has made this year’s training free of charge to Title I school teachers. The garden teacher training takes place on May 29-30th, 2021. Graduates will be empowered to bring garden education and to implement the EHG curriculum in their school communities. This is part of a holistic effort to empower school communities to join them in educating youth about the power of growing their own food. The Bosch Community Fund grant also enabled EHG to launch their first virtual community lesson, called Intro to the Cosmos.
