Temporary Cooper River Memorial Library Location Opening on May 3
On Monday, May 3rd, the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) will open a temporary location for the recently closed Cooper River Memorial Library. The original branch, formerly located at 3503 Rivers Ave, closed on April 27th to allow for construction of the new Keith Summey North Charleston (KSNC) library.
The temporary branch is located at 2036 Cherokee Street, adjacent to the Charleston County Department of Social Services Annex and just a few blocks away from the original branch (map).
“While we’re excited for construction to begin on the new Keith Summey North Charleston library, it was important to us to not disrupt access to library services for the community,” said CCPL Executive Director Angela Craig. “Though small, this temporary location lets us continue to provide vital library resources to our patrons in the area.”
The temporary branch, which will remain in-use throughout the construction of the new KSNC library, offers a selection of library services including:
- Access to a limited collection of books and DVDs,
- Pickup for materials on hold, as well as book drops to return materials,
- A small number of computers, printers, and copiers for public use, and
- Free Wi-Fi connectivity.
The branch is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 am – 5 pm, Wednesday from 2 pm – 5 pm, and closed on Sundays. Operating hours may vary and are subject to change.
