Enough Pie will celebrate the one year anniversary of the Tales from the Manor book on Saturday, May 1st at St. Julian Devine Center, with a Facebook live interview panel featuring residents of Joseph Floyd Manor. Ten current and former residents will reunite and discuss how their lives have changed over the past year. The celebration is a private event for residents who participated in season one. The Q&A panel will be live streamed via Enough Pie’s Facebook page.

“Story-telling has become a beautiful form of preserving the real-lived experiences of our neighbors in African American communities on the Charleston Peninsula,” said Thetyka Robinson, Enough Pie’s Interim Executive Director. “Without stories like those shared in Tales from the Manor, we would lose the foundation of our community of which it was built. Time can quickly change our environment, but preservation helps us honor what existed before the change.”

Facebook live viewers will have the opportunity to engage in the conversation with the guests by submitting questions during the interview.

Over the next month, Enough Pie will highlight details about the elders’ stories on social media. Signed copies of Tales from the Manor season one are available to purchase online at enoughpie.org/shop for $25. During the month of May, unsigned copies of the book are available for $15. Proceeds from the book sales will go towards publishing season two.

Joseph Floyd Manor is a 13-story building with 156 apartments that serves low-income, elderly, and disabled residents. It is part of the Charleston County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

Tales from the Manor from was a 30-minute weekly radio interview program envisioned by Enough Pie to shine a light on residents that are often pushed to the side, written off from modern society. The radio program and book were made possible by Bennett Jones (co-author), Jae Smith and Summer Anderson (co-hosts), and 96.3 OHM Radio.
