Berkeley County Library System this week announced the addition of a children’s braille book collection. Customers may visit BCLS Catalog and search the subject “braille books” to locate items in the Braille books collection.
Some of the titles include:
- Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin
- This picture book teaches children the alphabet through letters that race up the coconut tree
- Alma and how she got her name by Juana Martinez-Neal
- This book is about Alma Sofia Experanza José Pura Candela who is a little girl with a very long name that she has to tape extra paper to the page when she writes her name
“The braille books will allow children and parents to participate in reading programs such as 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, and Monthly Reading Challenges,” Gene Brunson, Director of Berkeley County Library System, said. “These books will not only appeal to those who can read Braille, but also those who wish to read a nice children’s story!”
