Local Self-Care Advocate Offers Roadmap for Navigating Dysfunction

Published

on

Local author Jessica Amaro’s desire to become an agent of change began at a young age while helping to care for her younger sister with special needs. This love of helping others evolved into a passion for creating events to support her community for over a decade.

“I am in the midst of a never-ending love affair with making a difference,” said Amaro.

Her latest project, a new self-help book, Don’t Become Your Bullshit, presents readers with a guide on how to pivot from life’s hiccups and malfunctions with reflection, self-awareness and personal growth. Amaro seeks to effect real change in how people respond to failure.

“Optimism plays a vital role in how we view ourselves, evaluate problems and respond to dysfunction,” she said.

Employing transformative exercises, prompts and personal narratives, Amaro aims to help cement constructive behavioral concepts that are critical to optimizing growth opportunities and engage readers with actual work.

“The book is not like any other book in the self-help genre, as it provides the space to literally do the work,” she said.

Don’t Become Your Bullshit is available for purchase online at Amazon.com.

Amaro is a nonprofit founder, entrepreneur, and behavioral interventionist. She also serves as the training director for a national behavioral care company. She lives in Charleston with her husband and two children. You can get more information at www.dontbecomeyourbullshit.com.
