Shaggin’ on the Cooper returns to the Mount Pleasant Pier in July
Charleston County Parks is bringing back Shaggin’ on the Cooper at the Mount Pleasant Pier this summer. Filled with great music, stunning views of Charleston, and lots of fun, Shaggin’ on the Cooper is an event you will not want to miss.
A variety of shag bands will be playing during the various event dates. Event opens at 7 pm and music will run from 7:30 pm to 10:30 p.m. 2021 Shaggin’ on the Cooper dates and bands:
- July 31st: The SugarBees
- Aug. 21st: Shem Creek Boogie Band
- Sept. 11th: The Coppertones
- Oct. 23rd: Ocean Drive Party Band
Guests must purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased by visiting CharlestonCountyParks.com or calling 843-795-4386. If the event is canceled by Charleston County Parks, tickets will be refunded. Food and beverage fees are not included in ticket price.
Beverages will be available for purchase on-site. ID is required to purchase alcohol. Food and snacks will be available for purchase at the River Watch Café and Gift Shop located at the entrance to the pier. There will not be food for purchase within the event.
Guests are welcomed to bring chairs, as seating is limited. Chairs are not permitted within the dance area.
Outside food and alcohol, coolers will not be allowed. Smoking and vaping is not permitted within the event. Pets will not be allowed on the pier. Safety is a priority; staff and volunteers will be following all proper COVID-19 guidelines. Handwashing stations and hand sanitizer will be available on site.
Mount Pleasant Pier is located at 71 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd. Part of the Memorial Waterfront Park complex, the 1250-foot long Mount Pleasant Pier stretches out into Charleston Harbor under the foot of the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge. During normal park hours, the pier sells food, beverages, gifts, souvenirs, tackle, and fishing gear. As well, fishing is permitted on the pier.
