New Charleston County EMT’s and Paramedics take Oath of Patient Care

On Monday, June 7th, newly hired Charleston County emergency medical technicians and paramedics took an “Oath of Patient Care” as they begin serving citizens in our community. 

EMS Director David Abrams talked about the importance of respect, integrity and always doing what is right for their patients.

“Patient care is the most important part of our job as emergency medical personnel,” said Abrams. “We decided it was imperative to hold a ceremony for each new hire class so that everyone can take an oath swearing to uphold the best standard of patient care.” Current EMS personnel and future new hires will also take this oath.

Oath of Patient Care:

I (name), do solemnly affirm to uphold the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of South Carolina, the laws of this state and act in accordance with policies of Charleston County Government and Charleston County EMS; that I will keep in my heart the trust placed in me by the public and use my knowledge and skills to always do what is right for my patients and community; that I will help building communities through care, respect and integrity; that I will better public safety; and that I will remain an ambassador for quality patient care and promote the health and safety for all whom I may serve, without prejudice or bias.
