Celebrate Juneteenth and Father’s Day 2021 at the Berkeley County Museum

Located inside the Old Santee Canal Park, the Berkeley County Museum is inviting the community to return to the museum this weekend, after being closed for several months due to COVID-19.

Starting on Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm, the Berkeley County Museum, located in Moncks Corner, will be hosting a Juneteenth event featuring artists Eleanor Cooper Brown who will be holding a book reading and signing of her work From Preparation to Passion, an exploration of African-American sacred hymnody and Peggie Hartwell, an award winning quilting artist, both with deep ties to the county.

On Sunday, the museum invites families to come in to celebrate Dads and other father figures by contributing memories and stories to their digital archive. The museum grounds also have ample grilling and picnic places for those who wish to celebrate outdoors with food or a picnic. Lastly, the museum is offering a one time special for anyone wishing to commemorate their father with a memorial brick, offering two bricks for the price of one.

“We’re excited to have two great occasions to encourage residents of Berkeley County and beyond to come back to the museum, or join us for their first visit.” said Chelsy Proper, Berkley County Museum Director.
