Comedy Central Announces New Late-Night Series From Lowcountry Natives Charlamagne Tha God and Stephen Colbert
Comedy Central today announced that Lowcountry natives Lenard “Charlamagne Tha God” McKelvey and Stephen Colbertare teaming up to create and produce Tha God’s Honest Truth with Lenard ‘Charlamagne’ McKelvey, a weekly late-night series.
Colbert is making his return to Comedy Central for the first time since The Colbert Report ended in 2014 to executive produce the show, which will feature Charlamagne’s take on social issues in a variety of deep dives, sketches, and social experiments.
Charlmagne hails from Moncks Corner and is currently a co-host on The Breakfast Club, a nationally-syndicated morning radio show that airs locally on Z93 JAMZ.
Colbert currently hosts The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He grew up on James Island and attended Porter-Gaud.
Tha God’s Honest Truth will film in New York City and debuts on Friday, September 1th7 at 10 pm. For now, you can enjoy the two teaser videos Comedy Central released:
