As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Charleston area, Closing the Gap in Healthcare’s Lowcountry Jazz Festival, Charleston Gaillard Center, and Fetter Health Care, have partnered to host a free vaccination clinic on Friday, August 27 from 3 pm to 7 pm. The clinic will be held at the Charleston Gaillard Center and will not require sign ups in advance. Individuals over the age of 12 are encouraged to show up on August 27 to receive their shot. Each individual will also receive two complimentary tickets to the Lowcountry Jazz Festival for either Saturday, September 4th or Sunday, September 5th.

The Lowcountry Jazz Festival, South Carolina’s premier annual Smooth Jazz event, is the primary fundraiser for Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose primary mission is decreasing health disparities and increasing health literacy, especially for African Americans and the underserved in our community, South Carolina, and the nation.

“We would like people to know that we have been giving out health care information to this community for the past seventeen years,” said Dr. Thaddeus J. Bell, Founder and CEO of Closing the Gap in Health Care. “We hope the gesture we are doing with Fetter Health Care will save one life in this community. And if it does that, then we will have been successful.”

“The Charleston Gaillard Center is proud to partner with the Lowcountry Jazz Festival and Fetter Health Care to host this free vaccination clinic for our community,” said Lissa Frenkel, President and CEO of the Charleston Gaillard Center. “It is forward-thinking partnerships like this that will enable a healthy and safe fall arts season for all of our patrons. We are looking forward to hearing music in the halls of the Charleston Gaillard Center again this Labor Day.”
