Charleston Wine + Food Festival
Charleston Wine + Food Moving Culinary Village to North Charleston in March 2022, Adds Free Programming
A full 16 years after its first iteration took over Marion Square, Charleston Wine + Food is expanding the footprint of its Culinary Village by moving it to North Charleston’s Riverfront Park. Event organizers says the move “accommodates the festival’s steady growth, allows for expanded festival programming, and embraces heightened sensitivities about crowding at public events.”
Ticket holders will access the interior “village” for tastings, demonstrations, and more. Non-ticket holders can take part in the festival this year, too; a food truck “neighborhood” will provide a place to people watch and enjoy for-purchase food and drinks. In addition to the Culinary Village activities, the park will host the new musical evening event, NightCap. Musical headliners will be announced in advance of the October 21st on-sale.
The festival will take place March 2nd to 6th 2022; the full schedule, which will feature nearly 100 special events in and around greater Charleston, will be announced on October 17th. The events include plans for a free, community event in Marion Square, as well as dozens of pop-ups, specialty events, and experiences on the peninsula. Online ticket sales launch October 21st at 11 a.m.
“We’ve known for some time that our festival was bursting at the seams of Marion Square,” said Gillian Zettler, executive director. “We’re thrilled to retain a foothold in the city we love even as we expand to a spot that allows more room to roam and opportunities for expanded programming. Both cities – Charleston and North Charleston – have been great partners to us as we plan our return in 2022.”
