Press Release

PURE Theatre this week announced two weekends of live performances happening this October, outdoors at Fort Moultrie’s Battery Gadsden. The program, titled Fall Nights, is a new collaboration between PURE Theatre and Battery Gadsden Cultural Center and will feature two plays, “Constellations” by Nick Payne, and “Buyer & Cellar” by Jonathan Tolins.

The plays will run on two consecutive weekends, October 15-16 and October 22-23 and will be staged in the unique and ambient setting of the historic garrison located on Atlantic Avenue adjacent to Sullivan’s Island Elementary School.

“I can’t think of a better time or a better place to bring our work outdoors,” said Sharon Graci, PURE Theatre’s Artistic Director. “We’re so excited to return to live performances and taking advantage of the fall weather and the opportunity to gather together to see a show in such a unique setting is going to be very special.”

“Constellations” is a spellbinding, romantic journey that starts with a simple encounter between a man and a woman. But what happens next defies the boundaries of the world we think we know—delving into the infinite possibilities of their relationship and raising questions about the difference between choice and destiny. The show received its Southeast Regional Premiere at PURE in 2016, and the restaging will feature PURE production’s original cast of PURE Core Ensemble Members Camille Lowman and Paul Rolfes with an original score composed and performed by Bill Carson.

“Buyer & Cellar” is an outrageous comedy about the price of fame, the cost of things, and the oddest of odd jobs. Alex More, a struggling actor in L.A., takes a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar. One day, Lady herself comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? An audience favorite from Piccolo Spoleto’s past, the show features Core Ensemble Member Brannen Daugherty stepping back into the role.

The Fall Nights creative team includes PURE Artistic Director Sharon Graci as Director, Richard Heffner as Scenic and Lighting Designer, and Miles Boinest as Stage Manager and Sound Designer.

Performances will be held on the evenings of October 15-16 and October 22-23 at 7 pm. Audience seating will be outdoors and socially distanced. Masks are required. Tickets to these shows are available via PURE Theatre’s website: puretheatre.org for $40 for a single ticket, or $70 for a two-play discount package. The show is also included with the purchase of PURE’s Season 19 All-Access Flex Pass.

Additional information about Fall Nights and the All-Access Flex Pass can be found on PURE’s website at puretheatre.org or by calling the box office at 843.723.4444 (Monday through Friday 9am-12pm).
