On September 30th, 2021, Evening Post Books released The Charleston Tea Party, a history documenting the eleven months leading up to and the social and political ramifications of Charleston’s very own Tea Party.  The book was written by John R. Young.

A parliamentary duty on a common grocery item? The destruction of three shiploads of tea in one of the colonies’ largest ports? By the way, what happened to the cargo of tea shipped to Charleston? What were the circumstances that brought colonial America’s favorite non-alcoholic beverage center stage in a face-off between the mother country and her obstreperous children? All these questions as well as many as-yet-unasked ones will be answered within the pages of The Charleston Tea Party.

“This book is a tour-de-force account of the Charleston Tea Party,” Stephen J. White, Sr., co-author of Patrick Lynch, 1817-1882: Third Catholic  Bishop of Charleston, and Founder/Director of the Charleston Historical Society, said. “It details Charleston’s interaction and coordination with Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, as the Holy City wrestled, amidst growing alarm, with the latest assault on its liberties. I highly recommend The Charleston Tea Party to all who are interested in how American liberty was achieved.”
