A Walk Helping Children Find Their Voices
The 2021 South Carolina Walk for Apraxia virtual event will be held on October 9th, 2021 to benefit children with apraxia of speech. To participate, simply register, fundraise, and celebrate however you choose on Walk Day! Registration is FREE!
Apraxia Kids encourages participants to create a plan to walk with your friends and family around the neighborhood or gather a team for a socially distanced stroll through the park. The Virtual Walk allows for a totally customizable experience. No matter how one chooses to celebrate, we are committed to ensuring that each Apraxia Star is honored and celebrated.
“We are so excited to celebrate and honor local Apraxia Stars virtually and to unite local families in a unique way,” says Angela Grimm, Executive Director for Apraxia Kids. “The funds raised through the Walk for Apraxia are crucial to supporting the programs and services of Apraxia Kids, which are needed now more than ever. The resilience and persistence of the Walk for Apraxia community continues to inspire us as we forge a path forward serving families and professionals nationwide.”
The funds raised through the 2021 South Carolina Walk for Apraxia benefit Apraxia Kids, the leading nonprofit that works to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). This organization educates both families and speech-language professionals so that children with CAS can reach their highest communication potential through accurate diagnosis and appropriate, timely treatment.
Raising awareness is one of the most tangible ways that communities at large can help children with apraxia thrive. Collective increased awareness means that children will be diagnosed faster, resulting in better, earlier intervention.
