Curtis Eddie Smith and Lawyer Appear on National News Programs to Discuss Alleged Suicide-for-Hire Plot Involving Alex Murdaugh

Curtis Eddie Smith, the man charged with shooting disgraced South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh as part of what law enforcement says was a failed suicide-for-hire plot, and his lawyer, Jonny McCoy (right), were both last week interviewed by national news programs to discuss the charges against Smith.

In a clip posted by CBS News’ “48 Hours,” Smith maintains he did not shoot Murdaugh. You can watch the clip here. The full interview will be broadcast in a couple weeks.

Meanwhile, McCoy was interviewed Thursday by TODAY’s Craig Melvin. McCoy said that his client is being “set up” by Murdaugh because Murdaugh is “a drug addict who is going through horrific withdrawals.” You can watch that interview below.
