Katie’s Krops Expanding Their Efforts to Grow A Healthy End to Hunger
Katie’s Krops continues to expand as they launch their 12th nationwide youth grower search, empowering children to grow a healthy end to hunger by starting a Katie’s Krops edible garden in their community where the whole harvest is donated. The search is open to youth between the ages of 7-16 across the United States. Youth selected as Growers will be awarded the supplies needed to start a garden in their community, educational materials, and be eligible for scholarships. They will join hundreds of like-minded children across the country working to assist families struggling with hunger and food insecurity. The application to become a youth grower and start a Katie’s Krops Garden can be found on the Katie’s Krops website, www.KatiesKrops.com/apply. Applications open on October 1st and are due on December 31st, although early applications are preferred.
Katie’s Krops Founder, Katie Stagliano, shared her excitement, “Over the past 12 years, we have welcomed the most amazing youth into the Katie’s Krops family. Collectively, these youth have donated over 500,000 pounds of fresh produce to those struggling with hunger and food insecurity across the United States. In addition, their gardens have taught them about agriculture, responsibility, the environment, and how they can address global issues at any age. I cannot wait to empower our new growers to impact the health and wellbeing of their communities positively.”
Katie’s Krops Growers will join the ever-growing Katie’s Krops Family and have the full support of a Master Gardener and the entire Katie’s Krops team. Growers will have access to a private grower website to access educational materials, log their harvest totals, upload pictures, and are eligible to receive continued support to grow year after year. In addition, plans are in the works to bring back the Katie’s Krops Camp in 2022, an immersive educational, fun experience exclusive to Katie’s Krops Growers.
